Who we are
Westbourne Farm is a suburban permaculture business and demonstration site located in Darra. We create permaculture designs, educate the community and provide a working example of what can be done in a standard backyard with very little money
The Farm has chickens, geese, goats and bees.
Lucy Hurrey
Lucy gained her Bachelor of Marine Science at the University of Queensland with a focus on botany and ecology. She worked in the tertiary education industry for over a decade before deciding to shift pathways. She trained in permaculture with Morag Gamble at Northey Street City Farm before completing her Permaculture Design Certificate in 2018 with Robyn Francis at Djanbung Gardens in Nimbin. Finally deciding to make the big jump from academia for a simpler life, she began working at Northey Street City Farm Nursery in 2019. She then completed Permaculture Teacher Training with Hannah Maloney of Goodlife Permaculture and Brenna Quinlan. Lucy has extensive experience with teaching, grant application writing, design and communication techniques and growing food.
Carissa Taramoeroa
Carissa is the Nursery Coordinator at Northey Street City Farm Nursery. She completed her Certificate IV in Horticulture in 2018, followed by her PDC at Northey Street City Farm in 2019. Carissa is a qualified yoga and meditation teacher. Carissa collaborates on the development and delivery of workshops and implementing permaculture designs.
